Police this week said they had established task teams to investigate bomb attacks on ATMs in various provinces.

Police this week said they had established task teams to investigate bomb attacks on ATMs in various provinces.

National police spokesman Superintendent Ronnie Naidoo said the teams would be co-ordinated at national level.

Some suspects had already been arrested in North West and KwaZulu-Natal since the teams were announced last week.

In North West three attacks took place in the Phokeng area outside Rustenburg.

A fourth blast occurred at a petrol station in Extension 3, Paardekraal, also near Rustenburg

In Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, detectives arrested two people they believed were planing to blow up an ATM.

Two other people, believed to be accomplices, were killed in a pre-arrest shootout. Various firearms were recovered on the scene. - Sapa
