The service (Twib) was established to create awareness about the importance of technology to women in business, promote and nurture the use of technology by female entrepreneurs, create business role models and to promote cooperation among business and technology institutions to increase the usage of technology by women in business.
Twib's yearly award ceremonies honour women who have successfully used technology to improve the performance of their businesses.
Working with technology institutions and running technology transfer programmes, Twib facilitates demonstrations of available technology and also shows female entrepreneurs how it can be acquired and used.
The group provides women with information about the services offered by technology institutions, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and Mintek, the mineral research organisation.
