Schools that will represent Mpumalanga and Northern Cape in the Mille Cup Under-14 national playoffs will be determined in the provincial playoffs on Saturday.

The games will be at KaNyamazane Stadium in Mpumalanga and the Namaqua High School field in Springbok, in the Northern Cape.

The four Mpumalanga schools are Harmony High School (Piet Retief), East High Academy (Nelspruit), Langa High School (Bushbuckridge) and Zacheus Malaza (Witbank).

In the Northern Cape the antagonists are Orion High School (De Aar), Riet Rivier Primary School (Kimberley) Seinkopf High School (Springbok) while the fourth candidate to represent Upington is still unconfirmed.

Themba Tshabalala, South African School Sports Association coordinator, said: "The champions and the runners-up in each province, will qualify for the national playoffs billed for Kwa-Zulu Natal between September 21 and 24".

Tshabalala said the competition was a catalyst for soccer development in the country and was here to stay.

"We are catering for both primary and high schools," he said.

This year's event is the second edition of the contest which has seen more than 4 600 schools taking part. It started last year and was won by Kwa-Zulu Natal's Osizweni High School after beating provincial neighbours Thandukukhanya High School 2-0.
