The cricket coaching clinic held at the Braamfischer Oval in Dobsonville on Monday was a huge success.

It also attracted the likes of Ray Jennings, former Proteas' coach and Anthony Ferreira, national academy manager at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.

Coaches and players from Cricket South Africa and the national academy conducted the clinic that includes the U-13s, U-15s, U-17s, U-19s and Bakers mini-cricket.

They demonstrated the latest modern cricket techniques and skills drills.

More than 100 enthusiastic participants attended the clinic and learned a lot from it. Zed Ndamane, Gauteng Cricket Board amateur controller, said the clinic was part of ongoing efforts to improve individuals' cricket skills.

Said Ferreira: "I was very impressed by the good attendance. It was a good initiative from the organisers to bring the elite sport back to the disadvantaged area.''

Jennings took the juniors through fast and spin bowling basics and they showed enthusiasm throughout the proceeding.

Dobsonville Cricket Club's all rounders Saki Dikgang, 12, and Shaylen Pillay, 13, who returned from an England tour recently, both agreed that they learnt new tricks from the knowledgeable coaches.
