Opposition parties in the Johannesburg City Council have lashed out at the ANC for muzzling their voices.

The majority party, they claim, had reduced their speaking time in the council.

In a democracy like ours, minority voices are crucial. Gagging dissenters has become a common feature in Africa. It raises eyebrows when this habit creeps into our midst because South Africa has one of the best models of democracy in the world.
