Swing to the sound of Stix
One of the veteran backing guitarists now riding a wave of success with his new album Ko Kasi, Stix Hojeng, pictured, will perform at the new jazz venue in Melville, Spiced Jazz, on August 5. The concert starts at 6pm.
It is being sponsored by Kaya FM where his album is currently sitting at number one.
Ko Kasi is a contemporary 12-track debut jazz album produced by Hojeng, a bassist, producer, composer and pianist.
The first track on the album, Time after Time, reached Kaya FM's Top 10 in the first two weeks since its release.
Hojeng was born to music in the diamond mining city of Kimberley. His mother was a vocalist, his father played the trumpet and his brother played drums.
His first love at the age of 12 was the guitar; but the piano later won his heart and he now plays keyboards for Miriam Makeba.
Hojeng has played with some great talents, including Jimmy Dludlu, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Tsepo Tshola, Dr Victor and the late Brenda Fassie.
He also played with the band CC Beat, and, and he was a founder member of the band Loading Zone with Dludlu, Frank Paco and John Nassan.
