Bidvest Wits' development side is off to England today to participate in the yearly Arsenal International Soccer Tournament from July 30 to August 5.

Floyd Mogale, Wits' head of development, said the tournament will be played at London Royal Holloway University Sports Ground.

"We are excited to have been invited by Arsenal to participate in this prestigious tournament which attract development sides of some of the soccer giants in the world," he said.

"We have assembled a strong team guided by Ian Wodderburn and John Kemp. The team is looking forward to doing well in England.

"It is common knowledge that the whole world is focusing on South Africa with the 2010 World Cup coming to our country. We will do our utmost best to make our country proud.

"As part of the tour to England, I will also visit the academies of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to see how do they run their activities."

Mogale said they were determined to revive Wits' development, which has produced big names like Jethro Mohlala, Rowen Fernandez, Stanton Fredericks, Junaid Hartley and Reagan Noble.

"The support we have been getting from chairman Cyril Ramaphosa, chief executive officer Brian Joffe and other bosses has been great." .
