IBO junior welterweight champion, Englishman Ricky "Hitman" Hatton, could top Golden Gloves' bill on September 1 at Emperors Palace, which will form part of Golden Gloves' 30th anniversary celebrations.
Promoter Rodney Berman revealed that his American associate, promoter Art Pelullo, is in England negotiating with Hatton to grace these shores to meet recently crowned WBA junior middleweight king Gavin Rees.
Pelullo promotes the career of Hatton, who left tongues wagging last month in Las Vegas when he stopped highly rated Jose Luis Castillo in the fourth round to win the WBC International junior welterweight title.
If Hatton, 28, the undefeated fighting phenomenon from Manchester with 43 wins and 31 stoppages, accedes then Berman and Emperors Palace will have to erect a marquee because the casino's 2500 Centre Court will be too small for Hatton's fans.
Berman confirmed that Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken is a definite participant on September 1. The American will challenge Thomas "Merciless" Mashaba for the IBO featherweight belt.
Berman is optimistic that Evander Holyfield's management will come down to a reasonable demand for the proposed Holyfield-Corrie Sanders fight. They demanded an astronomical purse, he said.
The boss of Golden Gloves said the bill for September 1 could be a cracker as he intended putting on a world championship double-header.
