OXFORD - Shaken evacuees from the flooded UK city of Oxford were yesterday helped by charities offering clothes, food, massage and free cinema trips.

About 150 people, including pensioners and small children, have been taken from their homes in the deluged city centre to a football stadium on the outskirts of the university city.

There they have been given a place to sleep, often in hospitality boxes overlooking the pitch. - Sapa-AFP
