CAIRO - Egyptian authorities have beefed up security at Cairo's international airport, fearing incidents similar to recent attacks in Algeria and the UK, it was reported yesterday.

But senior police officials did not say whether they were acting in response to a specific threat.

Egypt has already stepped up security this month in Cairo's underground network.

There are five new checkpoints on the airport roads and all passengers, instead of a random sample, are searched. - Reuters
