Using Chris Hani's death to defame unpopular leaders is becoming a norm.

The SACP is being portrayed as a big-mouth, small group, which it is, and it is playing right into the hands of the enemies of national unity.

The call by Hani's killers to meet the party is another attempt to prove that Mbeki had something to do with the assassination.

What good would come from meeting the convicts? It won't bring Hani back nor will it foster unity. Maybe it will bring some form of closure, especially to Hani's family, but whatever accusations are thrown around, should have evidence to support it.

We are sick and tired of the propaganda. The SACP has already pointed accusing fingers at certain people, so if and when it heeds the invitation, it will not be open-minded to new information. It will meet to confirm its own suspicion. It must be careful not to end up as a puppet to destabilise peace.

Hani's murder was timed to cause havoc on the eve of our democracy. The perpetrators thought his death would drag the country into civil war. They failed. Now when there is so much distrust, they are trying to finish what they started. Do not let white people do this again.

But I do not think Mbeki or anyone else who is accused is that stupid.
