"We made an offer which they rejected. The lawyers are now working on it and so we have to wait. He's a good player," Benitez told the Liverpool website.
United said they had turned down a near £7 million bid for Heinze from Liverpool last week. United manager Alex Ferguson said Heinze, 29, wanted to leave Old Trafford. United were reluctant to sell him to their close rivals. - Reuters
