Time is as old as the universe

No-one invented time. As long as the universe has existed, there has been time. The earth is constantly turning on its axis. In one day (24 hours or 3600 minutes or 215000 seconds) the world makes one complete turn on its axis.

Each day every one of the 360 degrees of longitude pass the sun, which means that time moves eastwards by four minutes for every degree of

longitude. The earth has been artificially divided into time zones that generally follow the lines of longitude. For example, New York is about six hours behind South African time and Sydney in Australia is about eight hours ahead of us. - Whitaker's World of Facts, Russell Ash
