The Bushbuckridge municipality in Mpumalanga has pledged funds to assist with funeral costs for victims of the accident between Hoedspruit and Acornhoek this week that killed seven people.

The victims were on their way to work in one of the farms in Hoedspruit on Tuesday morning at about 6.30am.

They were in a bakkie when they crashed into a truck that was overtaking a bus.

Spokesman for the municipality Zondi Mkhabela said they had put aside R70000 to help the families of the victims with burial costs. He said each family would receive R10000.

"We are working with the social development department to ensure the families receive the money," he said.

He said six of the victims would be buried next Saturday and the driver of the bakkie, Wilius Chiloane, would be buried this Sunday.

The other deceased are Karen Roos, Jeaneth Selina Dibakwane, Sophy Bango, Maria Malebe, Inky Mashile, and Paulina Sedibe.

The ages of the deceased are unknown.
