Unhealthy acts

Nurses take an oath to serve with honesty and dignity. Their noble profession should never be linked to criminality.

Nurses take an oath to serve with honesty and dignity. Their noble profession should never be linked to criminality.

The nursing profession must have been shocked by the story last week of a 55-year-old nurse arrested at a Limpopo clinic with almost a kilogram of dagga.

What is more alarming is that she was released after paying an admission of guilt fine of R200 in the Vuwani magistrates' court.

The fine is an insult to law enforcement, especially with drug abuse rising as young people are targeted by druglords.

We are pleased that health authorities plan disciplinary action against the culprit. She must face the music for bringing this sublime profession into disrepute.
