An unidentified man aged between 25 and 30 was found beaten to death in Orlando, Soweto, at the weekend.
Orlando police spokesman December Ndlovu said police received a call from a passer-by that someone was lying motionless in the street.
"When we arrived, the man was already dead. There was no one else around except the man who had telephoned us.
"It seemed that the man had been beaten to death with a blunt object. He had been hit repeatedly," said Ndlovu.
Police have opened a case of murder.
