Municipalities in Limpopo will come under close scrutiny this week as labour inspectors embark on an intensive workplace inspection campaign.

The blitz of inspections are aimed at determining the levels of compliance with safety laws at workplaces.

Department spokesman Zolisa Sigabi said: "The week-long inspection campaign, starting today, forms part of the department's ongoing drive to ensure safe and healthy workplaces.

"Inspectors will pay particular attention to parks and recreation facilities, water and sewage plant systems, electrical distribution systems, risk assessment and regulations governing driven machinery," said Sigabi.

They will ensure compliance throughout the province, he said.
