Boateng dreams of playing for Spurs

Hertha Berlin have accepted a bid from Tottenham for Germany Under-21 midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Hertha Berlin have accepted a bid from Tottenham for Germany Under-21 midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.

The 20-year-old was interesting Spanish side Sevilla as well, but a bid of about £5 million (about R70 million) appears to have put Spurs in the driving seat for his signature.

Boateng told a German newspaper: "The Premier League is my dream league and now I am thinking about Tottenham."

Hertha general manager Dieter Hoeness added: "We accept the offer and now the club and the player must agree a deal. "The offer from Sevilla never interested us. It was not enough, so we turned it down."

Sevilla lodged a £2,7m (R37, 8 million) bid last week that was rejected, while Spurs are reported to have offered more than R70 million). Sevilla upped their original offer, but on Tuesday they reached agreement with Racing Lens to sign Mali international midfielder Seydou Keita. Boateng added: "We were quite advanced with Sevilla.

"I heard that Keita was joining Sevilla, so I don't know if that has any effect on me."

Boateng has made 43 first-team appearances for Hertha since turning professional, scoring four goals in the process. - BBC
