'NPA will be fair'

The public utterances that three Ekurhuleni metro police officers have been making about Robert McBride would have no bearing on the decision the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) will make on whether to prosecute him, spokesman Panyaza Lesufi said yesterday.

The three officers are Stanley Sagathevan, Patrick Johnson and Itumeleng Koko.

Lesufi said that although statements made by the officers had been noted, they would not affect the decision of the NPA.

"Some of the things they say in newspapers have not been said to the relevant agencies which have the authority to investigate and verify.

"We cannot therefore reach a decision based on media reports," said Lesufi.
