North West's department of transport, road and community safety will employ 150 more officers in three years.
This was announced by the provincial MEC for the transport department, Phenye Vilakazi, pictured, on Tuesday.
He made this announcement during a parade by management and junior members of the traffic management directorate at Mmabatho stadium .
Vilakazi said the purpose of the parade was to introduce the staff of the traffic management division to other staff members in his department.
He urged traffic officers to ensure that they vigilantly enforce traffic laws because this will ensure that accidents on our road decrease.
"You must always be visible and ensure that you issue out traffic fines to offenders because this will assist in reducing road accidents," he said.
"Unroadworthy vehicles should be removed from our roads."
