Paramedics yesterday rescued a boerbull found hanging by its testicles from a palisade fence.

ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said paramedics had received a call about a man who had collapsed on the street in Bosmont, Johannesburg.

"Paramedics were dispatched to the given location, only to find a completely different scenario."

The dog was found hanging with its head facing down and paramedics had to use a surgical blade to free it.

"The dog was in a very bad shape and in obvious pain. It had lost a lot of blood," Vermaak said.

Paramedics treated the dog at the scene and took it to a veterinarian in Roodepoort.

"It is not clear how the dog got stuck on the fence," he said.

The home owners said the dog did not belong to them.

"They also said it was not the first time that dogs came into their yard, as they have a big hole in the fence, and were not bothered by this," Vermaak said. - Sapa
