I am very worried about crime in this country. I have also lost loved ones to crime, but I don't see any logic in opposition parties yearly hammering the government's plans, without coming up with answers to help reduce the scourge.

If they are doing something about crime, let the opposition parties put forward their "low" crime statistics and the people will judge. Let's see what they are doing, how good their measures are and whether their plans are better than those of the government.
Every year when the crime statistics are revealed, we hear the same noises about the government's failure to deal with escalating crime.
I am not saying the government must always get the thumbs up, but if the aim of these parties is to see the government fail, then they are doing a good job.
However, if the government fails, many citizens are bound to be affected by crime.
We are about to vote for a new government in two years time. Should we vote for the armchair critics or the proactive parties that offer solutions to the problems rather than only scoring political points. I see policemen and women working their butts off to fight crime, only to be told yearly that they are not doing anything. Surely, this cannot be good for their morale.
Opposition parties should stop singing the same song every year and add real value to crime-fighting initiatives.
