Easier now to pay your bills

Residents of Potchefstroom can now pay all their municipal accounts at a post office near them, mayor Maphetle Maphetle said yesterday .

This follows a new service agreement between the municipality council and the SA Post Office.

"The people of Potchefstroom will from now on be able to pay for services like water, electricity and traffic fines at any post office in the country," said Maphetle.

"If someone is on holiday and has not paid an account, they can do so at a post office near them and in all of the residential areas of Potchefstroom where there are post office branches."

Maphetle said the city had been fortunate because the level of payments for services stood at 80 to 90percent.

Maphetle said under the new agreement with the post office, the municipality could make "the impenetrability in paying for services a thing of the past".

He added that the city hoped the agreement would shorten queues at its rates hall.

Its finance personnel would now also be able to focus more on customer care. - Sapa
