Ntuthuko Maseko, 26, the top athlete at Mpumalanga's Harmony Gold Club, said he is ready for the Halls 21km race.

The race, which also comprises a 3km fun run, a 10km and a 21km, is billed for Saturday at the Halls Gateway near Nelspruit.

Maseko, who has been dominating the 10km section for the past three years, said this year he wants a new challenge in the 21km event.

"I'm done with the 10km after winning it several times. I feel like I no longer have competitors in the 10km any more. This year I'm looking to compete in the 21km," said Maseko.

Mark Greeff, race organiser, said for the first time companies and schools have been invited to enter teams of six runners each to take part in the 3km fun run or the 10km event.

"This is a great opportunity to do a little team building and some healthy exercise," said Greeff.

The entry fee for the 21km is R30, R15 for the 10km and R10 for the fun run. The entry fee per team is R60 for the fun run and R90 for the 10km event.

The two main races, the 10km and the 21km, start at 8.30am and the fun run will start shortly thereafter.
