Clubs up for challenge

Eight Premiership clubs have registered to take part in the Engen Knockout Challenge which kicks off in Johannesburg next weekend.

The Under-17 tournament, where the overall winners will pocket R10 000, will be played at Marks Park in Emmarentia from July 13 to 15.

Sixteen clubs in each region - Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Cape Town - will take part.

The eight professional clubs represented are Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Moroka Swallows, Kaizer Chiefs, Silver Stars, Jomo Cosmos, Benoni Premier United, Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Academies who have registered include Harold "Jazzy Queen" Legodi's Africa Youth Sports and Transnet Football School of Excellence.

The Durban clubs include Safa Amajuba, the Umlazi Local Football Association, the Pinetown South Local Football Association, the Royal Coastal Academy and the Westville Academy.

Port Elizabeth clubs include Bay United, City Tigers, Really Aces, New City Stars, Manchester United and Lawson Brown High School. Those in Bloemfontein include Bloemfontein Celtic, Ntsu Secondary, Mangaung City, Navalsig High, Red Sea FC and Kimberley Boys High.

Participating clubs in Cape Town include Ajax Cape Town, Avendale Athletico, Ikapa Football Academy, Vasco da Gama, Young Romans and Mitchell's Plain Local Football Association.
