Actor, singer and choreographer Somizi Mhlongo says he is fed-up with playing gay characters.
The openly gay and proud Mhlongo is set to reappear on Muvhango as a straight doctor, Jackie.
"I love playing Jackie. He is responsible and full of love," said Mhlongo.
Mhlongo said the reason he took a long break from acting is that producers were only giving him gay roles.
"I got fed-up with doing the same gay roles over and over again.
"I respect what Duma Ka Ndlovu has done. Unlike other producers that I've dealt with, he did not look at who I am as Somizi but at what I can deliver as an actor," said Mhlongo.
Mhlongo has previously shot more than 30 episodes with Muvhango. He said he will only have three calls a week because of his heavy schedule. He will soon be promoting his upcoming 20-track album called The Divo.
