Three youths have been arrested after the fatal shooting of a popular traffic cop and staunch Christian.

Paul Rasepitika Oupa Phechudi, 49, was shot at his home shortly after a night vigil - where he had preached comforting words to a family of a bereaved church member - less than 500m from his place.

Phechudi was buried on Saturday.

Captain Mogoai of the Randfontein Police said three people were in custody and would appear in court soon.
