A Ghanaian national was arrested at Nelson Mandela Bay Airport in Port Elizabeth yesterday after being found in possession of stolen cellphones.

Police spokesman Captain Ernest Sigobe said the 30-year-old was allegedly on her way to Ghana when she was arrested.

"She was in possession of 34 stolen cellphones, a DVD player, a digital camera and a video camera," he said.

Sigobe said the stolen goods were discovered when security guards scanned the woman's luggage.

The suspect was charged with possession of stolen property.

She has been detained at a local police station and is due to appear in court today.
