poor performance

South African Airways suffered an R883million loss for the 2007 financial year compared with a R65million profit the year before, the airline said on Friday. Airline in-come rose 7,8percent to R20,6billion, but operating costs rose a sharp 13,4percent to R21,3billion. The main contributors to the higher operating costs were a 7,8percent rise in the dollar-rand exchange rate, a 12,3percent hike in the brent fuel price and a jump in aircraft lease rental. - I-Net Bridge
