Burkina Faso's Football Federation executives has resigned en masse amid mounting recrimination over a recent defeat by Tanzania.

Burkina Faso's Football Federation executives has resigned en masse amid mounting recrimination over a recent defeat by Tanzania.

The defeat by Taifa Stars earlier this month ended the country's hopes of qualifying for next year's Nations Cup.

Tanzania beat Burkina Faso 1-0 in Ouagadougou on June 16, leaving the hosts bottom of Group Seven.

"Relations had become difficult with the sports ministry on the one hand and with a large part of the public on the other," said FA spokesman Mamadou Alpha Barry.

"This will surely not make for a good working climate."

The executive committee, led by Seydou Diakite, was elected in May 2002 before being re-elected for a further four years in December 2004. - BBC
