A protest march to highlight the plight of scores of prisoners who spent years awaiting trial throughout the country's jails has been scheduled for Friday morning.

The march will go through the streets of Pretoria and end at the head office of the Justice Department, where a memorandum will be submitted.

The demonstration, organised by the Dream Team Foundation, the South African Prisoners Organisation for Human Rights and church organisations, blames the Justice Department for the overcrowding in prisons in the country. - McKeed Kotlolo
