Bafana Bafana striker Sibusiso Zuma failed to turn up for the first day of pre-season training at his German Bundesliga club, Arminia Bielefeld, yesterday.
Zuma's partner in crime is Brazilian defender Marcio Borges.
The German club said neither player had provided an apology for their no-shows.
Zuma had telephoned club coach Ernst Middendorp from South Africa on Friday asking permission to join training at a later date, but this had been refused.
In Zuma's case, it is thought the delay may be connected to problems with South African authorities on leaving the country.
Reports from South Africa have said the 32-year-old striker may face charges concerning a recent shooting incident at a party. Zuma's manager Rob Moore yesterday pleaded ignorance to his high-profile player's truancy.
"I know nothing about Zuma not showing up for training," Moore told Sowetan in a trans-Atlantic call yesterday.
Bielefeld have meanwhile heard nothing from 34-year-old defender Borges, the club's longest-serving player. - Sapa
