I Know What You Did Last Wednesday made me think.

Firstly, about my career, then my feats, strengths and weaknesses.

Since I read the book, I cannot stop asking myself if my career is something I will be proud of in the next 10 years.

The book is about a group of friends from Egbert's Comprehensive High School.

They have not seen each other for more than 10 years.

Everyone - except for Johnny Nadler, their former schoolmate - has made huge successes of their lives since leaving school.

They are invited to a reunion by the jealous Nadler, who never achieved his goal and always came second.

He invites Tim Diamond, the world's worst detective according to his younger brother Nick, to go with him.

Nick lives with Tim in Australia. Tim's best subject at school was needlework.

Eric Draper, a lawyer who always topped in history, is also invited.

Sylvie Binns, a chemistry boffin, and Mark Tyler, the world's greatest athlete, also get invitations.

Janet Rhodes, who is good in French, Libby Goldman, presenter of Libby's Lounge, a children's TV programme, and Brenda Blake, an opera singer, are also on the guest list.

The invitations include return tickets to Scotland and about R6000 in spending money.

They get to Scotland and are taken to the home of Rory McDougal, a multi-millionaire who always came first in mathematics.

The friends are killed, but Tim and Nick survive.

They vow to investigate the mysterious deaths of their friends.

Nadler is suspected to have murdered his friends because he is known for being jealous of their successes.

If this book does not encourage everyone to take their school work seriously, I do not know what will.

Work hard and read more such books so that you do not have to turn into an underachiever and get jealous of hard-working people.

The lesson is that you reap what you sow.
