Sylvia upbeat to do well in France

A Kagiso, West Rand girl who is part of a select group of athletes selected to represent South Africa at a world schools athletics tournament, says she's confident this invitation won't be the last for her.

A Kagiso, West Rand girl who is part of a select group of athletes selected to represent South Africa at a world schools athletics tournament, says she's confident this invitation won't be the last for her.

Sylvia Tshetlanyane,14, a Grade 8 pupil at Mosupatsela High School, is one of 12 pupils who left last night en route to France for the Jean Humber Schools World Athletics Cup.

The competition, which has drawn participating schools from 38 countries across the world, will take place from today to Wednesday.

The 3 000m specialist from the Kagiso Striders Athletics Club said she will run the 1 500m in France and is confident she'll do well.
