The national publicity secretary of the Azanian People's Organisation (Azapo), Mpho Tshule, who committed suicide on Tuesday, will be buried in Mabopane in North West tomorrow.

Tshule, 36, shot himself dead after shooting and killing his girlfriend.

He trained as a doctor at the Medical University of Southern Africa where he joined the Azanian Students Convention (Azasco), the student wing of Azapo.

Tshule rose through the ranks of the movement and became the deputy president of Azasco.

He was later elected national president of the Azanian Youth Organisation (Azayo), the youth wing of Azapo. At Azapo's September congress he was elected publicity secretary of the organisation.

He was one of the youngest members of the standing committee of Azapo and the only person to serve as national president of both the student and youth wings of Azapo.

Azapo secretary Dan Habedi said: "Tshule's leadership helped shape many young lives, a number of whom are now graduates serving in the public and private sectors."

The service starts at 8am at the Mabopane Sports Centre near Odi Stadium in Block C.
