Sam Maluleka says his family failed to watch their favourite team, University of Pretoria, play against AmaZulu at Loftus Versfeld yesterday because they learnt late that they would have to pay to watch the match.
He said when they went to inquire about tickets at Computicket on Tuesday they were told that the only tickets available cost R250 each.
"We learnt late that there were tickets worth R50 and we were keen to compromise and buy them but unfortunately they were sold out," Maluleka said.
The situation saw Maluleka and his family fail to watch his son and AmaTuks forward George Maluleka in action yesterday.
With the R250 tickets left, Maluleka senior and some of their 15 relatives would have had to fork out R3750 to enter the stadium.
An enraged Maluleka blamed the Premier Soccer League (PSL) for staging the first leg of the National First Division Platinum playoffs final between AmaTuks and Usuthu as the curtain-raiser to the international friendly between Mamelodi Sundowns and FC Barcelona.
"We are surprised why the PSL moved the match from LC de Villiers Stadium [AmaTuks's home base] to Loftus Versfeld," he said.
"We were not interested in the Sundowns-Barcelona match and we were keen to be there to support our team. I'm not talking only for myself here but also for other supporters."
The LC De Villiers venue is about three kilometers away from Loftus, which was a matter of concern to the League, hence the late change.
