Eight teams from Kwaggafontein in Mpumalanga will compete in the Top 8 soccer tournament at the local grounds from Saturday to Sunday.
The tournament is financed by Benoni Premier United captain July Mahlangu, who was born and bred in Kwaggafontein.
He told Sowetan that he decided to plough back into the community of Mpumalanga through the development tournament.
"I hope some of the players who compete at this tournament might be picked for the national teams such as the Under-17s, Under-20s and Under-23s in future,'' said Mahlangu.
He had also committed himself to donating two sets of soccer kits to his erstwhile local schools, Sinetjhudu Primary and Hlomami High, on Friday.
Wily midfielder Mahlangu was recruited from an amateur team Sonas Mpumalanga FC by United's astute coach Sonas Malope.
