Do you dream of decorating rooms with your artistic flair and stylish touch?

Do you dream of decorating rooms with your artistic flair and stylish touch?

If so, then a career as an interior decorator might be perfect for you.

Lynn Lundall, Intec College's guidance counsellor, says if you answer yes to five or more of the questions below, then a career in interior decorating is well worth exploring.

l Do you love beautiful things and truly appreciate aesthetically pleasing rooms and buildings?

l Are you a creative person who enjoys developing innovative ideas?

l Are you a people's person with excellent communications skills and lots of patience?

l Do you have artistic flair?

l Do you have an eye for detail, colour and style?

l Are you stylish and interested in international fashion and design trends?

l Are you good at finding solutions to problems?

l Do you have a good head for business?

Interior decorating involves discussing tastes and vision for homes or offices with clients, after which you infuse their ideas with your expertise.

Intec College is one of the top South African institutions where you can study interior decorating.

The college offers a South African Guild of Interior Designers accredited diploma that can be taken over eight months to a year and is offered via distance learning.

On completing the diploma, you could start your own business from your home or by setting up in a studio.

Alternatively you could join an interior design firm that specialises in corporate design or work in a retail interior design shop and advise clients on their choice of fittings and decor.
