Tshifhiwa Munyai continued with his winning streak in England last weekend.
Munyai, 21, from Makwarela in Venda, who is nicknamed "Atomic Spider", has become more popular on foreign soil than here at home.
He outpointed Harry Ramogadi from Gauteng, who is based in England, over eight rounds at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
The fight was a catchweight contest after both fighters agreed to meet at 57kg.
Munyai holds the Commonwealth bantamweight title. The limit of that weight division is 53,34kg.
Ramogadi fights in the junior featherweight (55,34kg), featherweight (57,15kg) and junior lightweight (61,24kg) divisions.
Munyai's mentor, Rob MacLeod, vowed that he would never ever allow Munyai to fight at that weight.
He said Ramogadi proved a tough customer.
"We outboxed him for six rounds. He came back in the last two rounds and his physical strength showed," said MacLeod. "We left here [South Africa] last week knowing that we were fighting a European boxer in our normal weight, but we were told on our arrival that we are fighting Harry.
"We had to take what was there."
It was Munyai's fourth UK appearance in 12 months.
He stopped the previously unbeaten Martin Power in nine rounds for the Commonwealth belt in June.
Four months later Munyai thrashed Lee Haskins in six rounds and thrashed Power in five rounds in their rematch on January 15.
l South African-born Lovemore Ndou has demanded a rematch after he was relieved of his IBF junior welterweight title by Paul Malignaggi at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut, in the US, at the weekend.
Making the first defence of the title he was handed on a platter by the IBF in March when English fighter Ricky Hatton refused to defend against him, Ndou was easily beaten by the Brooklyn-born Malignaggi with scores of 120-106 on two cards and 118-108 on the third one. - additional reporting by Sapa
