Volleyball South Africa (VSA) squads will spend a week in Thailand where they will play a series of warm-up matches in their final preparations for the 9th All Africa Games (AAG) next month.

The AAG will be held in Algiers, Algeria, from July 11 to 24.

The South Africans leave for Thailand on June 28 and will play against the country's national squads in the men's and women's categories.

They will also engage invitational teams during their week-long stay in Thailand. They go to Thailand after wrapping up their preparations at home three weeks ago.

"We organised four training camps at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria and we are all convinced that the players are ready to overcome arduous assignments in Algeria," Donovan Nair, VSA's publicist, said.

Andile Masinga, who once played in Belgium, has an important role to play in the men's squad for the South Africans.

Webster Hlabathi, Gershon Rorich and Freedom Chiya are also seasoned campaigners after having featured in the last AAG in Abuja, Nigeria, where the team finished fifth overall. Palesa Sekonyana, Yulia Thomas and Gadija Jappie are some of the key players in the women's squad.

VSA men's squad are in a relatively easy Group A where they will meet the hosts Algeria, the Seychelles, Congo, Ghana and Kenya.
