Province develops youth skills

To mark Youth Month, the Mpumalanga government has placed youth empowerment on its development agenda.

To mark Youth Month, the Mpumalanga government has placed youth empowerment on its development agenda.

Mpumalanga Premier Thabang Makwetla said official statistics indicated that last year youth comprised 38percent of Mpumalanga's population but accounted for 76percent of the unemployed in the province.

"We will . offer unemployed youth further education and training," he said.

He said the government, in partnership with the Labour Department, would facilitate the implementation of the Scarce and Critical Skills Initiative to the tune of R99million to work on the shortage of skills in critical areas of the economy and service delivery. - Alfred Moselakgomo
