How can donated blood be sold?

I was amazed at the positive attitude of Loyiso Mpuntsha, the South African National Blood Service's chief executive. Two years ago her blood was not acceptable because of her race and now she is working for the very organisation. That's ubuntu at its best.

I was amazed at the positive attitude of Loyiso Mpuntsha, the South African National Blood Service's chief executive. Two years ago her blood was not acceptable because of her race and now she is working for the very organisation. That's ubuntu at its best.

At about the same time that Mpuntsha's blood was subtly labelled unsafe, I read that all black blood was diseased. At the time I was preparing to donate blood to people who would otherwise die, but after reading the article, I decided against it.

I read in your newspaper on June 11 that Mpuntsha and her team accept blood from anyone and then sell it to hospitals, clinics and medical centres. I do not understand the selling part.

Donors donate their blood for mahala, so where does the selling part come from? Could you please explain to me? Please.
