New training programme
Safa and SuperSport yesterday signed a three- year deal to help in the training of administrators as part of the preparations for the 2010 World Cup.
Also on board in the agreement is the Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Education and Training Authority (Theta).
Safa and the pay television channel announced a joint training programme that seeks to develop the administrative and technical skills of soccer leaders.
At the launch at Safa House, the country's soccer governing body signed a memorandum of understanding with the sector education and training authority.
It provides for mass-based training of officials in 52 regions throughout the country. Participants will be identified by Safa.
The course of six modules focuses on governance, marketing and communications, strategic planning, finance, project management and creating a winning culture.
Raymond Hack, Safa chief executive, said it is expected that 520 administrators will participate in the course with the first intake due in October.
Mike Tsotetsi, Theta chief executive, described the project as an exciting initiative that will serve as a benchmark for the entire sports sector. SuperSport's Imtiaz Patel said they were delighted to be part of efforts to improve the standard of soccer administration.
