FRANKFURT - Well-known Bundesliga coach Peter Neururer has claimed that up to half of German soccer players used stimulants in the past.

He told yesterday's edition of Sport-Bild magazine that he saw players using the stimulant captagon, an amphetamine-like medication, while he was in charge at Schalke in the 1989-90 season, when Schalke was in the second division.

"I know that captagon was taken before. Many players were crazy about it," he was quoted as saying. - Sapa-AFP
