EXPOSURE FOR LOCAL REFEREES

The South African Football Association's referees' committee has lauded the Federation of International Football Associations (Fifa's) continued move to expose local match officials to the international stage.

The South African Football Association's referees' committee has lauded the Federation of International Football Associations (Fifa's) continued move to expose local match officials to the international stage.

This is after Jerome Damon, Enock Molefe and Siphiwe Jibiliza were drafted into the referees' panel that will officiate at the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Canada from June 30 until July 22.

Damon will be the middleman, while Jibiliza and Molefe will be assistant referees.

Kirsten Nematandani, chairman of the referees' committee, said yesterday: "The continued appointment of our match officials proved that our referees always do well whenever they are assigned at international competitions.

"Their success will encourage young referees in our structure." - Mcelwa Nchabeleng
