Metro police are looking for a man who was yesterday determined to own a VW Polo.

The suspect had reportedly hijacked a VW Polo and was driving at high speed on 14th Avenue in Johannesburg North when he was involved in a head-on collision with a Mercedes Benz.

Police could not say where the first VW Polo had been hijacked.

After the collision the suspect left the wrecked car and hijacked his second VW Polo of the day at the accident scene.

He pulled the owner out of her vehicle at gunpoint and started shooting randomly at bystanders. He then took off in the second hijacked VW Polo.

Johannesburg Metro police spokesman Wayne Minaar said: "The woman was still in shock and could not tell the police the registration of her car."

Minaar said the man was still at large and no one was injured during the shooting. - Kamogelo Seekoei
