Two 17-year-old boys, accused of stealing coal, were forcibly abducted from the Ratanda location in Heidelberg, Gauteng, on Thursday, police said yesterday.

Constable Sefako Xaba of the Heidelberg Police said that the pair were allegedly removed from their home by a 34-year-old woman and two 16-year-old boys last Thursday evening after being accused of stealing coal.

"The boys were thrown into the back of a Toyota Venture and were taken to the Vaal Dam," Xaba said.

He said that the boys were told by the kidnappers that if they did not own up to the theft they would be thrown into the dam.

"The boys told the kidnappers they did not know what they were talking about and were finally freed.

"They found their way back home and consequently reported the incident to police on Friday," Xaba said

The three alleged kidnappers were arrested and will appear in the Heidelberg magistrates' court on abduction charges today. - Sapa
