The Mbombela and Nkomazi municipalities in Nelspruit will host the municipalities of Matola of Mozambique and Mbabane of Swaziland in the 2010 Inter-Municipal Games.

The games will be held at Kamhlushwa Stadium in Nkomazi, near Komatipoort, from today until Sunday.

All four municipalities will be represented by Under-19 men's and open women's squads.

The games were started after a 2002 meeting between Mbabane, Nelspruit and Matola where a twinning agreement, which was aimed at bringing the cities together, was signed.

The first event took place in Mbabane in 2004. It was won by Mbombela.

In 2005 Mbabane hosted it and it was won by Matola. Last year it was hosted by Nkomazi and was won by Mbabane.

Nkomazi's mayor, Johan Mavuso, said it was their turn to lift it this time around.

This year's event will start with a traditional gala tonight that will be graced by top officials from the three countries. Tomorrow the day will start with a fun run before all the teams clash in a soccer tournament.
