The strike by mainly Cosatu affiliates is a wake-up call to the ruling party about the might of the workers and the true meaning of democracy.

The strike by mainly Cosatu affiliates is a wake-up call to the ruling party about the might of the workers and the true meaning of democracy.

Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi must remember that the alliance consists mainly of the working class, affiliated to Cosatu. She must be careful not to be used by other comrades at national level.

The strike has shown that Cosatu has the capacity to clarify the succession debate. The ruling party must come up with a solution quickly or this situation might further fuel the tension in the run up to the ANC conference in December.
