Apart from the inconvenience and Eishkom's constant urge to cut back, what really bites is the way Eishkom prances around talking as if they supply the electricity for free, intimating we have to behave because they are so kind!
Rubbish! We pay for that electricity. It doesn't come for free.
In July, the three Gauteng metros will be increasing their tariffs again. Electricity is included in that increase. But somehow the powers that be seem to forget this.
You can't call on beleaguered consumers to cut back on items they've purchased. That would be like asking a shopper to put an item back on the shelf but to still go to the till and pay for it anyway.
Where does the money we pay in rates go?
Obviously not in upgrading or maintaining equipment or else we would not have this problem.
So where then? Anyone who can answer this question will win a weekly candle and a box of matches.
